A few weeks ago Oprah did a beauty special with Dr. Oz. They also had beauty test expert, Paula Begoun share her recommendations of best beauty products. Paula has been testing and researching beauty products for 25 years, so there is reason to trust her suggestions. She lists specific categories for skin and hair products and gives several options ranging in prices from really cheap to somewhat expensive. You can view the list here on Oprah’s website. I want to try a bunch of the products and plan too, but I did go to Walmart a few days ago and purchased one of the hair straighteners she recommends. I was skeptical as I have spent close to a couple hundred dollars at this point over the years on “cheap” straighteners because I was too stubborn to pay a lot for expensive ones like Chi. I have several straighteners in my drawer, all under $50 that I have tried and none work well. I’ve been disappointed repeatedly by going cheap, but figured I would let Paula’s pick be my last try before I finally give in and buy an expensive brand.

The straightener from her list I bought is the Wet 2 Straight by Remington, and I am happy to say it works great! I was pleasantly surprised. After getting out of the shower, I towel dried my hair and went to straightening. When the straightener hits your hair, it does give a hissing sound which freaked me out. I did read the instructions and they acknowledge the sound and states that it is normal. But it worked so well and dried and straightened my hair all at once! I have to let you know, I do have pretty straight hair naturally, so I don’t know how it will perform for curly hair. But it has 30 different heat settings and they tell you what number to set it to for your hair type. It heats up to 374 degrees, so this baby gets hot! The Remington straightener retails at $32.99! Much cheaper than a lot of popular brands. You can get yourself one on the Remington site or at Walmart like me, as well as several other retailers listed on the site.

I’ll admit, I was tempted to title this post “These Boots Are Made For Walkin”, but I respect my readers too much to subject you to the expected. That’s why I am sharing a new site with you! Originally I was going to list boots from several sites, but found so many I loved from YOOX. It’s a fabulous site with great prices. Beyond boots they have clothing, jewelry, handbags and shoes all for women, kids and men. You can search by price, color, and size. When you click on an item you can read details and zoom in to view a close up. Also pay attention to changing the color options and size of each product. I’m excited about boots right now for winter so I went through and picked a few of my favorite finds under $200. I actually have the Fornarina Snakeskin boots and I love them! You can wear them tall or scrunch them. Be sure and checkout their fall-winter sale section for savings up to 40% off!

Bumble and Bumble is a great hair care line. It’s a little more pricey than say Pantene Pro-V, but it has a great following with it’s reputation. The line used to be found exclusively in salons, but you can find it at places like Wal-Mart. Although, they don’t carry the full line-mainly just shampoos and conditioners. So you’re better off ordering from their site or going into a salon. On the Bumble and Bumble website you can search for a salon in your area as well as search for all their products. It’s so easy to find the right product for you because you can browse by your hair type and your hair needs. A fun part to their site is the Style Book where they have photos of different “looks” and then they provide you with instructions and specific products to achieve that look. I was turned onto Bumble and Bumble by my hairstylist. I don’t exclusively use the line, but wanted to share a few products I have used and have been recommended to me. Read on for a special offer from Bumble and Bumble as well.

Tonic Lotion:

Tonic Lotion

Tonic Lotion

WHAT: Replaces moisture, soothes, detangles, and enhances the performance of products with a blend of herbs, vitamins and Tea Tree Oil.

WHO: Anyone. Especially good for dry, coarse or colored hair.

PERSONAL NOTE: I love this product! My girlfriend had it and I tried it once and loved how it made my hair feel. I made a special trip to my salon to purchase my own. The next time I was getting my hair done at the salon I noticed it’s what my stylist uses on me, I had never paid attention. Anyway, I spray it in my hair on my damp hair then blow dry. It gives you the “salon feel” we all love. Your hair feels light and soft! Don’t go overboard however, a little does the trick with this product. I don’t use it all the time, so I’ve had one bottle for a year now.

BUY: $7.00-$18.00

Thickening Spray:

WHAT: Helps fine hair achieve styling “lift-off”, but works on any hair type. Works as a setting spray. more…

Fall is here and and the cold of winter will soon be ours to enjoy! While I miss the warmth of Summer and the simplicity of throwing on a tank, shorts and flip flops to run out the door, the cold is fun when it comes to your wardrobe. It’s time to fill your wardrobe with beautiful coats, cozy sweaters, colorful scarves, and my favorite-Gorgeous boots!

This Season.

There are two major trends this season spotted on the runways at NY Fashion Week from the major fashion designers. Animal Print-mainly leopard and Bright Colors. I love both of these and especially combining the two! Both of these are pretty bold statements in fashion and some people are fearful of wearing them. But no need to fear! With a little time and practice you can make anything work for you.

Start simple.

You don’t have to rush out and buy a leopard print full-length coat with red trimming. Start with a blouse that’s leopard and match it with black pants. Or if you’re really timid, start with leopard earrings or a clutch. This goes for colors as well. I love colored handbags! I used to stick to mainly black because I thought it went with everything. But color adds such personality to your look. It’s an easy way to look fashionable without buying a whole new outfit! So if you’re not ready to buy a red dress, start with a red handbag.

Experiment.

Keep in mind not every color is flattering to every skin tone or hair color. But experiment! Bring a friend or your husband along for their opinion. Just don’t be mad if they tell you you look bad-let them save you from buying something that just “isn’t you.” But keep trying new things. Some of my favorite items I didn’t like on the hanger or didn’t think would look good on me. But once it’s on, sometimes you’re just a match made!

Keep Going.

While I encourage starting simple, don’t stop there. Like I said these are bold fashion statements and are meant to more…

This is a great style that can easily take you from day to night. The heels and flowing top dress up the jeans. If high heels just sound painful to you, the skinny jeans would look great also with a pair of Gladiator sandals like these ones at Endless. Who’s the supermodel now?

It’s such a perfect piece to have as it works with a variety of tops, so you can create endless outfits with just one skirt! Bloomingdales had a gorgeous skirt, but the price is ridiculous. So I searched high and low for you all and found one for a price that will make you smile!
